Key Performance Areas for the position are as follow:

1. Strategic planning and management of programming
Develop, manage and continuously review the programming strategy of VOW FM, ensuring that this process is informed by the results of audience research, trends in media consumption, community forums, focus groups and legal requirements.

2. Management of programming resources
Manage, develop and grow the station’s on-air talent on a daily basis. In order to achieve this, they must:
a. Be able to effectively direct, develop and grow the station’s talent in order to achieve the station’s programming objectives. This includes regular performance assessment, feedback, training and guidance.
b. Be aware of the content shared on-air and online platforms, and ensure that the overall output of the station is in line with the station’s strategic objectives.
c. Ensure that the volunteers and interns are able to work in an environment that enables them to perform their work at an optimal level (ie: adequate access to resources, equipment, training, etc).
d. Work hand in hand with the technical manager, and station manager, and the marketing manager to ensure access to the appropriate resources, opportunities and training.
e. Assess on an ongoing basis the quality and performance of the on-air talent and the overall impact on the station’s programming output.

3. Implementation, management and evaluation of programming strategy
Ensure the station’s programming strategy is implemented and executed correctly, making sure that there is an ongoing improvement of systems and strategies which would allow for the realization of the programming strategy. To address this, the following should be observed:

• Computer literacy (good knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, presentation and automation software).
