Purpose Statement:
To imagine, innovate, implement and improve Merchant Services capabilities to deliver on the vision, specifically in respect of merchant growth in the SME market and the ideal client experience.
To understand and translate the Merchant Services vision and strategy into the future operating model.
Translate business needs emanating from various projects, ideas or system changes into requirements for developing/buying IT systems. Support the development of change management and project plans for implementing the initiatives as well as the associated policies, procedures, and performance measures.
Key Tasks & Accountabilities:
Translate Merchant Services vision and strategy into the future Operating Model to deliver client value and experience
Build a sound understanding of the Merchant Services vision & strategy to determine the Merchant Services and Merchant Operations capabilities required to deliver the future target operating model (5 year horizon)
Develop Merchant Service’s target operating model within the understanding of the regulatory requirements and policies
Design and develop the Merchant Services business process model and client journey and benchmark against best practices
Support IT to develop the system architecture in support of the business model and requirements
Determine the business benefits, build the business case and motivate to stakeholders
Design business processes and requirements to scale for growth
Build working relationship with Merchant Operations Team
Translate the business process model and complete the Business Requirements Specification through facilitated and collaborative sessions
Translate regulatory and Policy requirements to business process requirements
Document business requirements and/or user stories according to agreed standards and timelines
Prioritise requirements and manage stakeholder expectations
Support IT to build the System Architecture
Engage in preliminary technical evaluation of business solution with internal IT department and external IT suppliers
Finalise cost and benefits
Engage in commercial negotiations with suppliers
Assist with the compilation of change/project plan to support the implementation of the business process
Assist with the user acceptance testing of the final system solution or business process, by defining applicable test parameters and doing the end to end testing
Build working relationship with Feature Teams which need to deliver on business model and requirements
Support the business to implement benefit realisation plan and track achievement of benefits
Drive continuous improvement to ensure business benefits, client and regulatory needs are met
Identify measures for tracking the successful implementation against the business case or best practices
Put in place the capability to measure the performance of the Merchant Services processes and other projects
Analyse process performance against the agreed targets and business benefits
Identify performance gaps and investigate root causes with the help of stakeholders
Agree corrective actions (Bugs, change controls, training intervention, parameter adjustment etc.) and assist with the implementation thereof
Sign off and close deliverables when process performance and/or business benefit are achieved
Qualifications:
A relevant tertiary qualification in Business Management or Logistics

Knowledge:
Minimum:
Knowledge and skill to conceptually design new Target Operating Model and ability to operationalise
Financial acumen
Design of Business Target Operating Models
Banking transactional processes
Business process mapping methodologies and requirements definition
Project Management methodologies
Continuous improvement best practices (Lean, 6-Sigma, Theory of constraints)
Strategic insight
Experience:
Minimum:
5-8 years of enterprise wide Financial and/or Logistics business model design and operationalisation of new concept
Ideal:
Translating Divisional strategies and regulatory requirements into a business area target operating model
Initiation and implementation of projects with the goal to implement the business area’s target operating model and improve business performance
