Multi Green (Pty) Ltd is a fertilizer mixing plant in Villiers in the Eastern Free State, partly owned by VKB Landbou (Pty) Ltd since 2019. Since 2005 Multi Green specializes in the precision mixing and distribution of liquid as well as granular fertilizer. The company is well established and well known in the farming community and the fertilizer sector.
Multi Green (Pty) Ltd requires the services of a dynamic Managing Director. The suitable candidate will have diversified knowledge and experience within the fertilizer industry, with strong leadership qualities to strategically and innovatively lead Multi Green.
About the Role:
The suitable candidate will demonstrate excellent knowledge, skills and experience in the following key performance areas to manage the profitability of Multi Green:
To ensure that the financial objectives of Multi Green are achieved by:
Growth of Multi Green in terms of market share and profitability.
Effective communication and revision of Multi Green’s financial objectives
Strategic direction:
Determine short- and long-term strategic goals and priorities of Multi Green
Formulation and implementation of the marketing strategy of Multi Green
Optimal management and utilization of the assets
Analysis of Multi Green’ policies, processes and practices to identify where risks exist and where additional measures are required
Strategic engagement with stakeholders:
Continuous liaison with the Board, Executive Management, shareholders, business chambers, government institutions, suppliers and members of management to establish and nurture long-term relationships and strengthen the identity of the Multi Green within the VKB Group as well as independently.
Ongoing support and advice to management teams, shareholders, internal and external clients to create a healthy work environment where the full potential of employees are utilized and developed.
Represent Multi Green on public forums and at meetings where necessary
Build synergy with other divisions within the VKB Group
Operational involvement and direction:
Maintain & develop strong relationships with different departments within their company to ensure smooth operation of plant.
Play the lead role in advising around pricing of products.
Monitor performance of Multi Green using key metrics and prepare reports for relevant stakeholders
Continuous forecasting and project revisions as required to mitigate possible risks
Build effective working relationships with clients and suppliers to support alignment and better understanding of their perspectives. Use that knowledge and relationships to strengthen Multi Green’s financial position.
Research and Implement guidelines for efficient production scheduling, storage of raw materials and finished goods and feasible delivery solutions
Requirements and Skills:
Relevant tertiary/postgraduate qualification(s)
At least 10 years Executive Management experience in the following areas:
General Management of the whole business cycle within a fertilizer company
Proven experience in the alignment of strategic-, operational- and financial goals
Excellent proven financial skills
Insight and vision in the fertilizer- and agriculture industry in South Africa
Effective conflict management skills
Comprehensive networking, communication and negotiation skills
Steadfast character with regard to ethical values, consistency and integrity
Strong leadership- and change management skills
Team player and protect and live out VKB’s unique and healthy culture at all times
Ability to identify issues and areas for improvement through analysis
Strong commercial acumen and business understanding
Ability to manage both internal and customer relationships
