Duties and responsibilities:

  • Collaboratively, with the Employment Relations Manager, diagnose trends and challenges with key drivers and advise on solutions available to drive delivery and morale.
  • Ensure that grievances, disciplinary’s and disputes are attended to within the stipulated time from the date of occurrence and that chairperson reports are submitted to the Employment Relations Office.
  • Provide advice, manage risk on employment relations matters, and ensure that the necessary deadlines are met within the stipulated timelines.
  • Contribute to the implementation of negotiating mechanisms with unions, which support the annual review of pay and benefits together with any structural changes.
  • Develop and present training interventions aimed at developing line management and human resource capacity.
  • Represent the University in disputes referred to CCMA.
  • Consult and prepare line managers and HR Business Partners for CCMA disputes.

Inherent requirements:

  • A Legal degree or a degree in Human Resources with specialisation in Labour Relations.
  • A minimum of two (2) years’ relevant experience related to the duties and responsibilities.
