In this role, you will be responsible for the overall planning, organization, and budgeting of all construction on the project to the highest safety and quality levels within time and costs constraints. You would have the opportunity to participate in the conceptual development of a construction project and oversees organization, scheduling and implementation strategy
Key Responsibilities
Plan and manage project construction programme
Prepare and manage project budget
Prepare RFQ documentation, and review the QS adjudication of submitted tenders.
Ensure that all stores are built to the Company’s standards
Liaise with developers and project teams to ensure that the premises are developed in accordance with the agreed specification
Survey proposed new sites and give feedback to Properties with respect to the extent of leasehold work required
Give advice and assistance to Divisions with major repairs and maintenance issues
Expand network of suppliers and contractors by actively searching for, identifying, evaluating and onboarding new suppliers and contractors
Qualifications and Experience
Experience in the retail construction environment
Demonstrated health and safety management focus in the construction phase of project delivery, and extensive knowledge of health and safety management procedures, safe work practices, and applicable legislation
National Diploma/Degree in Engineering/Construction
Registration as Professional Construction Manager with SACPCMP or equivalent will be advantageous
Minimum of 5 to 8 years’ experience in construction of which 3 to 4 years should be Construction Management
Experience dealing with contractors etc.
Retail project management experience of managing projects on the ground, sourcing local contractors and materials etc.
An awareness of energy conservation options that are available in the retail environment
Strong leadership skills, the ability to lead a team and fit into a team environment
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
Effective report writing skills, planning and organizational skills
Well-developed communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills
Able to communicate directly with the senior management and all stakeholders on key issues
Extensive knowledge of all phases of construction operations relating to field activities of all engineering disciplines, construction and maintenance practices, procedures and techniques, and applicable codes and standards
Familiarity with a wide range of equipment, tools, and technologies used in construction
