Job Description

Position Purpose:
To ensure implementation of supplier development strategies aligned to the broader
national policy and regulatory framework. To liaise with supply chain community across
Transnet or within the OD to ensure that there is consistent implementations,
monitoring and reporting of Supplier Development (SD). To conduct training initiatives
for SD policies and procedures to drive compliance of all Transnet Operating Divisions
or within the OD when entering SD transactions. To collate information and compile
reports on SD transactions across Transnet or within the OD
Position outputs:
• Conduct research to support industrial development, BBBEE and supplier development strategies, processes, policies, and
procedures aligned to the new iSCM strategy and the latest Government imperatives
• Continuously conduct research to contribute to thought leadership around Supplier development.
• Conduct Analysis to support opportunity identification for industrial development transactions with strategic Suppliers
• Contribute to SD strategy and process development, policies and procedures formulation
• Conduct Supplier development training initiatives across or within the OD
• Support commodity specific initiatives in respect of SD
• Track supplier development strategy and policy implementation across
Transnet or within the OD
• Assist with monthly compilation of Supplier Development COE dashboard
• Collate information and compile reports on SD activities across Transnet or within OD
• Collate success stories and Learnings on supplier Development
Qualifications & Experience:
1. Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
(Industrial/ Mechanical / Electrical/Metallurgical) is required,
2. Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Supply Management, and Supplier Development
