Job Description

Position outputs:
Ensure that all Transnet reporting requirements are met, including final reviews of pack information to assess reasonability
and that adequate reasons are provided for anomalies. Also ensure that all figures and analyses are properly supported and
fully understood and brief the CFO to enable any Exco queries to be resolved.
Develop, lead and manage the process of preparing budgetary/management information and reporting to the various audit
committees in respect of the financial and operational overview and on the state of corporate governance and internal
control.
Drive the business process re-engineering and continuous improvement programme for TP.
Lead the TP corporate plan development process.
Lead and direct TP’s enterprise-wide performance management.
Drive the company’s profitability to achieve the budgeted operating margin and return on assets employed.
Ensure that all investment decisions affecting the TP are properly motivated and designed to increase the profitability, in line
with Transnet’s WACC requirements.
Establish an internal control process with effective mechanisms that deliver a high level of corporate governance. This will
include the identification of
improvements to be made to business processes and controls, as well as monitoring that the business areas are compliant
and are completing the monthly control sign-offs.
Compile and document position papers that may be required from time to contribute to finance related projects such as the
sale or acquisition of a business.
Lead and manage the staff within the department so that they meet the objectives of their roles and obtain the necessary
guidance and development, also ensuring that new staff are recruited as required. Work toward the achievement of Transnet
Property development initiatives, ensuring that staff performance is evaluated on a regular basis, training targets are met and
succession planning & talent management is provided for.
Prepare financial estimates to support strategic planning to derive the maximum financial benefit from the company’s
property assets.
Review implementation plans of strategies during planning and implementation to ensure that they provide the desired
returns during implementation.
Review regional budgets to ensure they will provide the desired financial returns.
Prepare portfolio analysis and reports covering financial, assets performance, leasing, marketing and operations status and
strategies.
Conduct due diligence including appraisals of land and facilities.
Develop scenarios and schedules for acquisition and development of land.
Prepare data and evidence to procure capital from financial institutions.
Calculate cash flow and Net Present Value, and conduct sensitivity analysis.
Lead the company’s entire budgetary control process.
Lead TP project factory initiatives, including all cost and revenue optimisation initiatives.
Develop and monitor credit control policies, that will ensure that TP enters into lease agreements with creditworthy tenants
Check customer credit reports, approve and deny application based on the company policy.
Follow up on overdue invoices and payments, and implement appropriate collection procedures. Implement processes that
will improve debtors collection.
Regularly review changes in tax legislation and policy and ensure that taxation guidelines, processes and procedures are in
place, up to date and are aligned with those of Transnet. Communicate these to the business and review actual business
practices against legislation to ensure compliance.

Qualifications & Experience:
+8 years’ experience working within Finance of which +3 years is spent at Management level.
Professionally registered as a CA or Equivalent

Knowledge:
