Job Description

Position outputs:
1. Participate in the development, implementation, communication and administration of the Total Reward system within
Transnet Ltd, which rewards and recognises good performance, attracts and retain appropriate skills to the organisation

2. Responsible for the management of remuneration for the Bargaining and non-Bargaining employees to ensure that TNPA
remunerates its employees in line with sound corporate governance principles and Transnet principles.
3. Support TNPA employee relations efforts during wage negotiations by providing data analysis and recommendations
based on competitive market information and job analysis as requested.
4. Commission market surveys for salary surveys and benchmarks to be used by TNPA in determining remuneration
benchmarks to be used by the organisation in attracting and retaining skills.
5. Conduct annual risk assessment of TNPA’s Total Reward System/compensation programs, including annual bonus plans,
gain share, recognition plans, etc. to ensure that the construct of these plans do not encourage risky behaviours.
6. Responsible for the Organisational Management (e.g. Org establishment, Job Evaluation, investigations, Strategic
Workforce Planning, etc.) principles and practices within TNPA to ensure adherence to all applicable organisational design
principles and practices.
7. Ensure the continued implementation and maintenance of a job evaluation system for TNPA in support of the business
strategy.
8. Ensure proper management of salary parity issues within TNPA to ensure internal and external equity.
9. Ensure the establishment and operation of various remuneration related structures/committees so that developments
relating to the reward system are well managed and communicated.
10. Provide expert advice and direction on Total Reward related/Compensation related decisions that support business
strategies.
11. Serve as an internal consultant to HC Business Partners, Line Management and compensation team on compensation
matters, recruitment, retention & separation.
12. Management and development of subordinates within the remuneration department to ensure competent people within
the organisation.
13. Responsible for the management of the budget for the remuneration budget to ensure that the budget is well controlled
and not exceeded
14. Develop creative and innovative recommendations to enhance compensation programs effectiveness or streamline
administrative procedures by identifying opportunities to use new technology, computer systems, etc. to enhance programs
effectiveness and control administrative costs.
15. Facilitate all audit processes and ensure execution of corrective actions
16. Liaise with Finance for national labour costing and ensure that budgeted parameters are maintained
17. Responsible for the management and leadership of Specialists within the total rewards and organisation management
teams.
18 Develop creative and innovative recommendations to enhance compensation programmes, effectiveness and streamline
administrative procedures by identifying opportunities to use new technologies and curtail or control administrative costs
19. Manage SAP HCM data integrity (time and Attendance, Org. management, pay roll and Personnel Administration).
20. Manage the interactive link between career path and the total reward strategy.
21. Manage sound organizational design principles and practices in creating, maintaining and reviewing organizational
structures.
Qualifications & Experience:
• Hons in Human Resources/ Finance related field.
• At least 8 years’ experience in remuneration field with a total of not less than 12 years in a HR environment.
