The appointee should:
Have Grade 12 or Equivalent NQF 4 qualification.
Have a recognised Blasting Certificate for underground mining operations / engineering or Trade Certificate for engineering operations.
Hold a relevant/ valid SAMTRAC / COMSOC 1 & 2 / MINSOC 1 & 2
Have at least 3 Years’ experience in a supervisory position in a Mining or Engineering environment with experience in performing risk assessments and risk management.
Have working knowledge of information systems and processes
Be Computer literate (MS Office and SAP)
Familiar with mining industry
Knowledge and practical experience in SHE system implementation and auditing
Have Auditors courses for Safety and Risk Control management (Auditors/OHSAS 18001/SO 14001, etc)
Have knowledge of Investigation & auditing systems
Knowledge of base line risks assessments and risk management
Basic knowledge in Strata Control
Knowledge of ICAM and auditing systems
Be declared medically fit for the position and environment, as determined by a risk based medical examination at the relevant Sibanye Stillwater Occupational Health Centre.
Advantageous requirements:
A recognised Degree/Diploma in Safety Management (NADSAM) or similar qualifications
Recognised Assessor qualification
Mine Overseer Certificate will be advantageous
Key responsibilities:
SHE management
Collect and analyse task team safety data
Assist in the development of hazard control programmes.
Facilitate investigations
Facilitate and participate in SHE meetings.
Provide on the job coaching.
Identify training needs.
Ensure all incidents and unsafe acts are reported and recorded in the relevant SHE database.
SHE administration
Compile daily and monthly SHE reports as well as relevant legal documentation.
Execute effective role related administration.
Legal compliance
Workplace inspections as per MA Reg. 2.19.1
Accident Inspections completed and submitted within accepted Sibanye requirements
11.5 Reports completed and submitted withing requirements of MHSA.
Maintaining health and safety system
Assisting Mine Overseer, Engineer and/or Section Manager in developing Safety Improvement Action Plans.
Maintaining development of Safety Representatives.
Assisting with the implementation and maintenance of SHE systems that contribute to safe and productive environment.
Ensure continuous improvement of SHE systems by suggesting improvement projects and assisting with the execution of improvement projects.
