Short Description / Purpose of Job
• Provides single point leadership for Sasol’s Renewable Energy strategy and strategy implementation
• Provides single point leadership for Sasol’s Renewable Energy development opportunities within the green H2 projects several catalytical project each requiring 9-15GW renewable Energy) and decarbonization projects (1,2GW Procurement program)
• Contributes to maintaining the Group’s status as a sustainable investment by leading, influencing, advising and providing a strategic role with respect to renewable energy internally and externally (industry, partners etc.)
• Interface with government bodies and other industry leaders to influence and shape the regulation/policy making
• Engages with industry leaders and the market to assess new project opportunities, partnerships etc.
• Drives the renewable energy projects and programs through development and leadership of a renewable energy center of excellence within the business
• Provides thoughtful executive leadership as well as vision, coaching, support, and direction to the renewable team and the wider set of internal stakeholders to build cohesive and collaborative cross-functional teams
• Ensures proactive and responsible control of the project pipeline, renewable assets and renewable contracts
• Fosters a collaborative working environment and inspires a business-orientated, professional, results-driven renewable energy team
Recruitment Description / Key Accountabilities
Business Leadership
• Oversee all key elements of renewables in the business and ensure that the renewables team are seen as a Centre of Excellence in the business
• Scale and capacitate and lead the renewable energy team with the right skills and capabilities
• Interface with key stakeholders and represent the business as the renewable energy single point leadership
Governance
• Provide regular reporting to SVP Global Markets H2 Development (as appropriate) on strategy, market changes, development opportunities, project status, key decisions, and roadblocks
Formal Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/ Business or related discipline required;
MBA preferred
Min Experience
• 16+ years relevant experience
• 10+ years’ experience in renewables in the South African market including strategy development, project development and execution with strong track record of project delivery
• Deep knowledge of renewable energy value chains and key players across the value chain
• Executive experience with a combination of entrepreneurial, commercial, business development and analytical rigor
