Short Description / Purpose of Job
A senior reliability technologist will apply Asset Management principles to enable the safe and cost-effective utilisation of assets throughout the life cycle by promoting the utilisation of effective and efficient reliability practices and the asset management process model.
This position is in support of SEO: Midland operations area, specifically in the PVC & VCM and plants.
Recruitment Description / Key Accountabilities
Business Results:
Supply reliability metrics inputs into the RAM studies like MTBF
Perform inherent risk analysis on equipment through conversion from RBI or facilitated sessions
Assist with the justification of critical spares holding as well as assessing optimal maintenance interventions through product life-cycle costing (LCC) analysis using the Salvo DST (or similar) software
Use RBI outcomes for pressure equipment, piping, critical tanks and major hazardous installations (MHI) and through facilitated contact sessions for electrical, instrumentation and rotating equipment to indicate end-of-life and recommend renewal of the equipment
Equipment Maintenance Strategy (EMS) development and implementation through the application of Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM), Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA) and Fault Tree Analysis (FTA)
Perform Risk Based Inspection (RBI) application on pressure vessels, piping, critical tanks and major hazardous installations (MHI)
Deviation Management (DM) and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) inclusive of quality reporting of the outcomes and health of the management system
Apply Reliability Performance Tools & Techniques (RPTT) which relates to the use of SAP or Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) functionality and sources of data to be used in reliability, failure and data analysis as well as the reporting of bad actor equipment
Integrity studies to identify the cause of bad actor equipment and recommend possible solutions to improve performance
Integrate the outcome of Operate within Agreed Parameter (OWAP) monitoring initiatives by all engineering disciplines in support of managing the risk of equipment failure on operations
Leadership and Values:
Understand and apply the asset management process model (operations core processes) and its application in the relevant operation department
Utilise reliability engineering practices in the relevant operating department
Issue reliability engineering reports (reviews) at agreed intervals after thorough analysis (utilising various data sources) that gives clear guidance on focus areas for the improvement of plant reliability.
Identify improvement opportunities that will help ensure that reliability engineering processes are effective and efficient and relates to the asset management model
Be the proponent of reliability business processes, procedures, work instructions and practices in the relevant operating department.
Relationships, Teamwork and Collaboration:
Help to ensure that processes governed by reliability engineering are understood by all role players in the relevant operating department
Support the relevant personnel in the operations departments to obtain the necessary competence i reliability practices through training and coaching
Contribute to the prioritisation of improvement activities and projects within the operations department based on the potential benefits in OEE improvements
Track the health of reliability governance processes in operations department and support proper application of such governance
Ensure that reliability metrics are established, optimised and the trends reported on to drive continuous improvement of sustainable operations
Track and report on critical next steps from incident investigations of significant operations impact
Formal Education
BTech/Higher Diploma (South Africa) in Engineering
Post grad qualification in Reliability Engineering (wish)
Min Experience
8+ years of experience in an engineering field
Knowledge of reliability engineering
Knowledge of processing/manufacturing plant operations and maintenance principles
Good working knowledge of SAP
Knowledge of Asset management principles
Good working knowledge of problem-solving tools
