Short Description / Purpose of Job:

Sasol Mining is making use of the Siyenza process. This operating model introduced several new systems and processes, such as 12 Weekly planning, improvement processes and systems, automated reporting of business information. This Role will require integration, maintaining, improvement and sustaining these systems and processes within the required area of work. It requires interaction from the planning process right through to tracking execution of these plans. This position would be the ideal position to obtain exposure in preparation for a General Manager / Vice President position. Preference will be given to Females.

These is also a requirement to provide strategic support to the relevant area of work, from Sasol Mining to the Chief Operating Officer. This position requires evaluation of action plans, across the different departments and collieries to provide support to Leadership on risk evaluation and mitigation, as well as dynamic decision making with regards to the plans, process and actual KPI’s that is tracked. As part of integration across departments will also include tracking and reporting on Asset Health, reliability monitoring, reporting and analysis across departments and Collieries.

Driving business improvement processes by evaluating key performance indicators across the Collieries, facilitating and/or conducting Root Cause Analyses Sessions. Using the mentioned process to then plan and track execution of these improvement initiatives. Business improvement will include looking at systems improvement as well and to ensure long term systems health.

Qualifications:

• University Bachelor’s Degree/B Tech (Mining Eng)

Min Experience:

• 10 relevant years in the Mining Environment

Recruitment Description / Key Accountabilities:

• Lead integrated system design thinking and make use of relevant technology into coal mining operations to achieve sustainable and step changes ito performance improvement across different Mining and operating processes.
• Oversee total integration of plans of data and work related processes related to all the mining operations.
• Integrate to different optimized channels (e.g. real-time system software, electronic information capturing) to enhance efficiency, responsiveness and profitability across mining value chain.
• Implement improved processes such as selective mining that is capable of future profitable extraction with guaranteed waste reduction and increased productivity.
• Manage and mitigate emerging Planning and Operational risks using innovative thinking and develop products and services that strengthen mining function business model and enhance value across mining operations and different departments.
• Report identified critical issues including performance issues to the relevant Colliery VP and up to Chief Operating Officer (COO).
• Allocate resources systematically to guarantee effective coal mining integration processes across Collieries.
• Track expenditures for integration procedures to remain on top of the cash flow and maintain allocated budgets for integration plans.
• Foster effective stakeholders in South Africa’s mineral and manufacturing sectors and government relations to remain on top of latest technologies in coal mining integration.
• Build partnerships with consultants and service providers to help reach strategic goals of Sasol Mining Collieries and related Business Units.
• Apply evidence-based SHE practices, in alignment with set standards, to ensure safe operations.
• Contribute to the formulation of workforce planning reports and budgets for the Projects, Engineering, & Operations Improvement function, to optimize staffing and operations. Foster a work environment that actively develops and encourages employees to achieve their maximum potential and overcome deficiencies through feedback, coaching, on-the-job training, and succession planning program.
