Job Description
The main responsibilities of this job are:
Identify critical supply chain risks and implement alternative plans by proactive assessment of the incoming materials, services or equipment, thus allowing timeous resolution of identified risks
Implement tactical procurement strategies for goods and services by staying abreast of the procurement requirements
Foster stakeholder relationships with vendors and internal customers to achieve operational business objectives
Establish and maintain a co-operative relationship with the mill/forest’s departments and escalate the root cause of a specific matter between the team and department and assist with the implementation of corrective actions as required
Co-ordinate and manage multi-disciplinary teams, across departments, and assist in change management process where necessary
Assist with the execution of the department’s vision, strategy, objectives, policies and procedures
Monitor and evaluate vendor performance in relation to the service level agreements or quality, delivery and environment and provide feedback to the mill stakeholders and report non-conformance
Implement and manage the contract management process which includes the bidding process, analysis of bids, monitoring, evaluation, award recommendation, contract negotiation, contract approval, bond administration, arranging and managing forward cover
Identify and report any risk in the supply chain to the Senior Procurement Manager, implement control measures to monitor the risks and develop a response plan where necessary to mitigate risk
Supervise sub-ordinates and manage their development
Coach and guide end-users on the Regional Procurement policy to ensure mill compliance with the policy
Work with the regional team on the execution of new ESD initiatives for the mill by driving the local stakeholder engagement and overseeing the local implementation
Contribute to the profitability of the mill by providing input for the procurement of goods and services and managing the execution of the procurement capital expenditure process for approved projects
Provide information for the Procurement management reports to the Senior Procurement Manager and discuss any opportunities or risks with the Senior Procurement Manager and the regional procurement team
Ensure compliance to all SHEQ related policies, procedures, best practices and work instructions for procurement in the mill and effectively communicate new regulations and procedures as and when required to contractors
The ideal candidate should have:
Bachelor’s degree in commercial, engineering or legal, or equivalent experience
5 Years procurement experience in a manufacturing or heavy industry environment
Supervisory experience will be advantageous
