Job Description

The Intermediate Platform Engineer works with the Platform team, AWS COE, the technical lead and the enterprise architect to:
• Design and develop automation to support continuous delivery and continuous integration processes. They have to work with senior leaders to deliver on complex, enterprise-level initiatives that are a part of the company’s overall strategic direction
• Responsible for managing, using and operating systems on the AWS platform. They also are responsible for maintaining and managing the AWS infrastructure and managing the bills and optimize the costs

This is achieved by embracing system and design thinking to implement platforms leveraging software automation principles and data driven insights.
Engineer solutions using AWS services(Cloud Formation, EC2, Lambda, Route 53, ECS, EFS)

Balance hardware, network, and software layers to arrive at a scalable and maintainable solution that meets requirements for uptime, performance, and functionality

Monitor server applications and use tools and log files to troubleshoot and resolve problems

Maintain 99.99% availability of the web and integration services

Anticipate, identify, mitigate, and resolve issues relating to client facing infrastructure

Monitor, analyse, and predict trends for system performance, capacity, efficiency, and reliability and recommend enhancements in order to better meet client SLAs and standards

Research and recommend innovative and automated approaches for system administration and DevOps tasks

Deploy and decommission client environments for multi and single tenant hosted applications following and updating as needed established processes and procedures

Follow and develop CPA change control processes for modifications to systems and associated components

Practice configuration management, including maintenance of component inventory and related documentation per company policies and procedures

Configuration of the AWS cloud management; Configure and fine-tune the cloud infrastructure systems; monitoring and managing cloud services carefully

Improvement of resources and work on the resources which will designate costs required for planning of governance, budgeting, and reporting

Understanding of the metrics and monitors the utilization of AWS resources on a full scale by making use of highly complex Amazon CloudWatch

Reducing the time required for production by using automation infrastructure which involves Cloud Formation technique

Creating a compelling presentation which supports C2S overview; creating and managing VPC, URL proxies, the C2S access points, and the Bastion Hosts

Keeping the backup of the resources. The administrator has to do AWS on-premise resources backup often by use of AWS services

Communicating with the NISP network team which helps in completing the network connections for the clients VPCs

Upgrading software, patching the kernel and errata patching; managing the disaster recovery and creating the data backups

Maintaining Data Integrity and access control by making use of the AWS application platform; effectively monitoring charging and cost optimization strategies

Implementing and controlling the flow of data, to and from the service provider.

Translating the architectural requirements of the system.

Selecting the appropriate services which are based on the data or the security requirements.

Managing and then operating highly available and fault-tolerant cloud systems.

Estimating the usage costs and also in identifying the operational cost control mechanisms of the system to improve efficiency.

Managing the network especially the DNS and the firewalls.

Providing support to other teams if any optimization or the troubleshooting on the performance of the application to avoid errors.

ROLE & QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS:

Git/GitHub version control tools

Linux and/or Windows Virtualisation (VMWare, Xen, KVM, Virtual Box )

Cloud computing (AWS, Google App Engine, Rackspace Cloud)

Application Servers, servlet containers and web servers (WebSphere, Tomcat)

Degree – 3+ years experience in software development

Must have experience with AWS VPC networking and security

Programming diploma/on the job training, with 3+ years of programming experience

Proven experience working with information architecture and design interfaces

Knowledge of the Software Development Lifecycle and DevOps will be advantageous

Familiarity with architecture styles, Microservice and Serverless architectures

Knowledge of at least one high-level programming language: Java, C#, C++

Ability to produce technical documentation

Good analytical skills

Strong problem solving and decision-making skills

Technical skills required:

Monitoring solutions at scale (any of: Elasticsearch, New Relic, AWS X-Ray, Amazon CloudWatch)
Strong knowledge and practical implementation of:
AWS Services: AWS Lambda, AWS CodeBuild, AWS CodePipeline, AWS CodeCommit, AWS CloudFormation
Kubernetes
Terraform
Jenkins
Prometheus
Grafana
Use scripting languages such as Python, Ruby and GO to automate AWS tasks

Develop Ansible and CloudFormation scripts to provision systems and deploy our latest artifacts

Support InfoSec scans and compliance audits

Create and enforce policies related to AWS usage including sample tagging, instance type usage, data storage

10+ years of IT Operations, Automation experience

Automate deployment and monitoring of services

Lead cross functional meetings to ensure internal customer adoption of unified CI/CD efforts

Use DevOps principles and methodologies to enable the rapid deployment of software and services by coordinating software development, quality assurance, and IT operationsShell (e.g. Bash) scripts are advantageous

AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate

AWS Certified Sys Ops Administrator Associate

AWS Certified Developer Associate

Over two years of experience in monitoring AWS environments

Experience in operating system administration

Knowledge of monitoring and auditing systems

Good understanding of maintaining and deploying fault-tolerant systems on AWS.

Advantageous :

1+ years experience with the Amazon Managed Service multi-account operating environment and the AMS RFC processes
