The successful incumbent will promote improved operational performance and patient care experience through
quality delivery of services and patient interaction, by subscribing to the highest level of integrity and
professionalism. Engage relevant stakeholders to ensure that operational efficiencies are coordinated to improve
patient outcomes.
The duties of the post are carried out in accordance with Netcare’s Policies and Procedures and/or as determined
by Netcare’s Audit requirements. The incumbent will be responsible to coordinate all secretarial work in the
ward, stock and responsible for all customers.
Key work output and accountabilities
The duties of the post include but are not limited to the following, and are carried out in accordance with
Netcare’s Policies and Procedures. The objective of this post is to render and promote cost effective quality
patient care in accordance with hospital standards and policies
Answer telephone correctly, friendly and in a professional way.
Liaise between patients, families, doctors etc.
Bed bookings, admissions, transfers, discharges of patients
Stock coordination – checking, ordering, counting
Work on time keeping system – approve hours on the system
Staff planning and ensure that there are enough staff for every shift
Complete staff and patients stats in workbook and bullet in daily.
Help with scheduling and manage Yearly roster.
Attend to all patients, customers and visitors needs within the professional and legislative boundaries
provided.
Responsible for the preparation of the reception area in the ward for each working day, and have all front
desk activities fully operation at the start of business hours.
Assist patients to accurately complete appropriate forms and documents for the required information.
Handle and manage the continuous flow of information between doctor’s rooms, patient and other service
providers
Maintain administrative records to the system and report statistics when required
General administration duties as will be required from time to time
Participate in communication forum committee

Education
Grade 12 or equivalent NQF Level 4 Qualification
Secretarial qualification advantageous
Strong personality
Computer literacy specifically in Microsoft Office, Excel
Accurate data-entry skills (35WPM typing speed minimum requirement)
Excellent communication skills (articulate, well spoken)
Knowledge of billing procedures will be advantageous
Work experience
Ability to Multi-task and handle incoming calls and or diverse patients with excellent telephone etiquette and
in a supportive manor without compromising the quality of our service
Organizational skills with good alphabetical/numerical filing required
Punctual, reliable and dependable and ability to work well under pressure
Ability to work, both as a team player or independently as when the situation requires

2 years’ experience in hospital environment will be advantageous
