The Recovery Assistant assists addicts with gaining insight into their addictions and facilitating emotional,
cognitive and behavioural changes to ensure ongoing recovery from their addiction. This includes a postdischarge support system.
Key work output and accountabilities
Administration
Maintain confidentiality of records relating to clients’ treatment.
Write feedback on group sessions in process notes.
Prepare for and hold Stepwork group sessions
Ensure completion of surveys, including testimonials prior to departure.
Assist Co-ordinator with the COPE daily attendance registers required by Head Office for group billing.
Individual sessions
Provide some additional assistance to clients who are soon to be discharged with their pre-discharge
planning.
Provide containment for new and/or unsettled clients.
Provide Orientation to clients in Primary and Secondary facilities
Be visible within the community to both observe and model appropriate behaviour.
Provide coaching to clients when planning their discharge.
Assist clients with secondary care duties.
Refer clients to their therapist should they need therapeutic intervention.

Education
Recovery Assistant Coarse – minimum 2 years sobriety.
Work experience
Working experience in a treatment centre
Knowledge of CBT and DBT

Nursing support

Facilitate client searches on admission of patients and when called to do so.
Transport or fetch clients to and from events when required.
Provide administrative assistance to nursing.

Facilitate a weekly 12-step group for each phase.
