The Capital Management and Project Services team, based in Brisbane, Johannesburg, Montreal, Lima and Santiago provide project support and governance to Glencore Copper’s global mining operations and development projects.
With a global scope this role provides you an excellent opportunity to interact with business leaders and influence future direction of our operations and projects.
The Opportunity
The role is accountable for services and systems support to the Senior Manager Copper Services Projects Services and Capital Management across the assets in the African region. It is focused on implementing systems to support the Capital Management Governance and Assurance through the deployment of the Capital Management Framework (CMF).
In this role you will:
Ensure capital investments into the Africa region of the copper business, whether for sustaining or expansionary purposes is appropriately motivated, executed and managed according to established policy, procedures and practices.
Have cross-regional involvement, coordination and inputs into other region’s projects.
Implement and provide input to the Copper Capital Management Framework, including relevant processes, systems and structures for the Africa region in line with the standard global approach.
Provide capital project governance and assurance activities across the Africa’s project portfolio for the Copper business, including interaction with and coordination of the Copper Investment Committee.
Provide strategic advice and identification of risks, ensuring all the necessary project requirements and standards have been adhered to.
Conduct detailed project cost estimation and schedule reviews independently from stage gate assurance across projects either in the relevant region or elsewhere globally.
Provide analytics and strategic advice to inform the Copper Portfolio Capital Planning and Program Management requirements of the portfolio.
Your training, skills & expertise checklist:
Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Projects Management and/or related disciplines.
15+ years experience in a similar role within the resources/industrial industry.
Relevant project owner’s teams or engineering service provider experience.
Resource experience working with project delivery organisations in Central Africa preferred.
Business facilitation, analytical, leadership/management and negotiation capabilities.
Strong leadership and relationship building skills both including internal and external stakeholders.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills across all levels of the organisation.
English language skills.
Ability to travel to Glencore’s operations in Africa.
