POSITION PURPOSE
To provide services for the production of bacterial and viral antigens, cell culture, quality control, contract manufacturing, freeze dried products and final product formulations.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
To plan, perform and co-ordinate services rendered to various departments to ensure continuity of processes within the production facility by providing services to fermentation, virology, cell culture, quality control, freeze dried products, Multimin and formulation to manufacture quality products according to the required specification and time frame as indicated by the production schedule in collaboration with relevant technologists.
Achieve 100% competency of relevant procedures performed for serviceable divisions.
Collaborate in identifying and monitoring issues impacting the timely manufacturing of various products within the Floating Technologist’s profile.
Ensure all processes related to manufacturing is in compliance with SOP’s and according to ISO9001 and GMP requirements.
Performing in-process problem solving and refining of existing procedures within divisions to optimize the manufacturing and ensure cost efficiency.
Ensure that all products related to production are manufactured in accordance with product and equipment specifications.
Capturing production data on production data sheets and other relevant information as required.
Interpretation of data with the intent to identify possible product / equipment failures or to serve as continuous improvement initiatives.
Improve laboratory efficiency.
Maintain monitoring system to allow effective control of processes.
Ensure adherence to departmental turnaround times and early warning to direct Team Leader and / or affected business units of any delay on TAT.
Performing general product preparation and advance preparation required to effectively and efficiently produce products and / or perform QC testing.
Assist the relevant technologist to ensure adequate function by performing routine maintenance and proactively correct/ repair faulty equipment.
Maintaining IMPTE’s (thermometers, weights, balances, pipettes within scope of operation) in the absence of the relevant technologist within the scope of operations and serviceable divisions within the production facility.
Frequent equipment monitoring and completion of monitoring logbooks.
Conducting all general work practices in accordance with OHS and quality assurance policies and procedures.
Assist Team Leader in eliminating waste of whatever form to suggest the use of more environmentally friendly substances and practices and contribute to the continuous improvement of the environment.
Ensure own work practices are compliant with OHSA requirements and that safety equipment are always worn when required.
Ensure that safety policies and procedures are understood and adhered to as far as is reasonably practicable in order to ensure safe working environment for all production staff.
