Job Summary

The role of the Learning Solutions Lead is to ensure the delivery of relevant and impactful learning offerings through blended solutions which support business outcomes. The role also drives integrated operational planning, management of the Absa Learning system and operational support on cross company programmes and skills development.

Accountability:  Assist in leading and managing the People Experience Strategy

  • Work with Group Head: People Experience to develop a strategy which aligns to the People & Culture Function and broader Absa strategy and priorities.
  • Develop and execute an operational strategy and plan for Learning Solutions.
  • Manage the budget, operations, services, priorities and human resources of Learning Solutions.
  • Collaborate with the Group Leadership Learning & Talent (LL&T) Centres of Expertise to implement quality and accreditation standards which apply to all learning activities within Absa.
  • Ensure adherence to policies, learning standards and quality guidelines as defined by Group LL&T and Legislation.
  • Track progress of the planning and integration framework implementation and highlight continuous improvement opportunities and lessons learned.
  • Oversee the demand planning process for service offerings across Learning Solutions to ensure broad objectives are interpreted appropriately and translated into actionable plans.
  • Attend to the development of robust budgeting guidelines and ensure that guidelines are well communicated to Clusters.
  • Monitor, steer and report on Learning Solutions projects.

Accountability: Effectively facilitate financial management and administration across Leadership, Learning and Talent

  • Work with Group Finance and Procurement to ensure Learning Solutions financial management is compliant with Group Finance Policy.
  • Manage mandatory and pivotal grants.
  • Oversee economic transfer agreements (ETAs), balance sheet recons and invoice payments.
  • Manage reporting related to operational costs, operational costs split, run rate reporting and other financial costs.
  • Manage and evaluate integrated expenditure against agreed budget – identifying variances and making recommendations for implementing corrective actions.
  • Continuously monitor the overall financial effectiveness of Learning Solutions and broader Group learning including detailed budgets.

Accountability:  Operationalise the framework of Learning Design

  • Attend to the design and deployment of learning solutions to enable Absa to meet its objectives.
  • Oversee and monitor the execution of learning projects, ensuring all projects are logged and managed to cost and quality standards, including using the appropriate technology to deliver the projects.
  • Identify and oversee opportunities for coordinated curriculum design and delivery across Absa.
  • Ensure the blend of learning and content remains relevant and meets both internal BU/ Function needs as well as benchmarking against industry best practice.
  • Improve scalability of learning solutions with a focus on being flexible and pragmatic, and minimising duplication of effort and cost

Accountability: Oversee an in-house video and multimedia learning studio capability that enables Absa to compete at an industry standard level

  • Ensure end-to-end video and multimedia learning solutions relating to the conceptualisation, planning, filming, editing and publication of both simple and complex video and audio solutions, including live streaming.
  • Provide support to the Learning Design team in terms of rapid development of video and multimedia solutions for inclusion in learning objects.

Accountability:  Operational support for Learning communities across Absa.

  • Provide on-going support and expertise to businesses and functions with respect to operationalising and implementation of learning and delivery of leadership, management and bespoke programmes across Absa.
  • Manage demand and delivery of leadership, management and bespoke programmes across Absa.
  • Enable and streamline learner journey and experience on these programmes utilising appropriate technology.

Accountability:  Effectively manage stakeholders and interfaces across the Leadership and Learning function

  • Supports “make or buy” decisions and contracting regarding vendors and maintains vendor contact.
  • Utilise and manage vendors in case of capability and/or capacity gaps.
  • Give input to the preferred supplier list and criteria for vetting vendors.

Accountability:  Effectively manage all operational requirements of the Group Learning Management system (LMS)

  • Ensure the development, implementation and evaluation of learning solutions to the Group.
  • Oversee and ensure a consistent approach to transactional learning solutions delivery.
  • Collaborates with Group LL&T to identify and instil consistent learning operations system and tools.
  • Drives   and   controls   compliance   to   the   organisational   learning   management   system standards.
  • Ensure the implementation of audit report findings and recommendations to ensure an effective utilisation of the Learning Management system.

Accountability: Enable Absa to deliver on the regulatory requirements related the Skills Development element of the B-BBEE scorecard

  • Oversee the allocation of the mandatory grants to fund Group and/or business driven training initiatives in line with enabling Absa to achieve the full benefit of the Skills Development B-BBEE reporting.
  • Sponsor the Skills Development tool to enable business to access accurate and real-time skills development information required to make business decisions.
  • Ensure Absa has representation at the INSETA and BANKSETA and provide necessary approval letters required for the registration of SDF’s with each SETA.
  • Monitoring the implementation of Group learnerships and internships to assist in Absa achieving maximum B-BBEE points at year end.

Accountability:  Effectively manage the Team

  • Optimally balance the resources in the team and contribute to this team’s ability to make an impact to the overall business agenda.
  • Develop a high performing team by embedding formal performance development and informal coaching.
  • Determine development needs for the team itself and ensure that identified development and training requirements are budgeted for and executed.
